A new federal law № 225-FZ from June 28, 2021 came into force in Russia on July 1, 2021.

From now on, it will be possible to hold general assemblies online, which more concretely means, that all participants will be able to attend the meeting from any location. Furthermore, there will be a permission as amended by this Federal Law, to vote in absentia.

However, beyond that, it must be noted, that all participants need to be reliably identified remotely. The records of the meeting and voting results of the voting, for example, can be electronic.

In current times, such as the pandemic situation, this will be a significant help for conducting online assemblies; it also enables online voting for the future, which was not legally possible before.
